ASTON, Pa. – The Cabrini women’s tennis team has been selected to finish fourth this season in a preseason poll conducted by the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) head coaches, the league announced Friday. The Cavaliers, winners of four straight conference crowns from 2004-07, posted a 5-5 mark versus CSAC opponents last season.
In 2010, seventh-year head coach John Magee will rely on the veteran trio of junior Alexis DiCamillo, junior Michelle Lettmann and sophomore Gabriela Durand.
DiCamillo recorded a 7-3 CSAC mark last season in singles play at the No. 1 position. DiCamillo earned conference second-team distinction in both singles and doubles with Lettmann in 2008.
Lettmann played in the No. 2 spot and also owned a 7-3 conference record. Lettmann claimed CSAC First Team honors in singles play as a freshman two seasons ago.
Durand received CSAC Honorable Mention accolades last season in singles competition, owning an 11-2 overall record and 9-1 mark versus conference opponents.
Magee also welcomes a trio of newcomers in 2010. Rookies Katie Kennedy, Victoria Nastala and Adriana Scotto will make their Blue & White debuts this season.
Gwynedd-Mercy College topped the CSAC preseason poll, receiving 111 points and seven of the 11 possible first-place votes. Neumann University (99) and Marywood University (92) listed second and third, respectively.
Cabrini collected 86 points and received two first-place votes. Cedar Crest College (85) finished fifth.
Cabrini begins its 2010 season on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at home versus non-conference opponent Richard Stockton College. Match time is set for 3:30 p.m.
