ASTON, Pa. – The Cabrini men and women’s cross country teams have been voted to finish fourth and third, respectively, in a preseason poll conducted by the league’s head coaches. The Cavalier women placed third, while the Cabrini men listed fifth at the CSAC Championships hosted by Immaculata University in 2009.
Gwynedd-Mercy College has been slated the preseason favorite on the men’s side, earning 98 points and receiving 11 of the possible 12 first-place votes. Marywood University (90) and Keystone College (68) ranked second and third, respectively.
Baptist Bible College (55) finished fifth.
On the women’s side, Gwynedd-Mercy and Marywood tied for the top billing, each receiving 115 points. Gwynedd-Mercy claimed six of the 11 first-place votes. Marywood earned five.
Cedar Crest College (78) finished fourth and Keystone College (65) listed fifth.
Senior Diane Gapinski returns for the Blue & White in 2010, one season removed from earning CSAC First Team honors and finishing third at the conference championship. Gapinski was one of three Cavaliers to compete at the NCAA Regional as an individual automatic qualifier.
The Cabrini men and women’s cross country teams open the 2010 campaigns on Wednesday, Sept. 1 in an exhibition meet at Richard Stockton College. Meet time is set for 4 p.m.
