RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini women’s tennis team resumed its preseason practice schedule on Friday afternoon at the Dixon Courts. The Cavaliers begin the 2010 season on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at home against Richard Stockton College (3:30 p.m.).
Seventh-year head coach John Magee welcomes back three returners from his top six last season, including juniors Alexis DiCamillo and Michelle Lettmann. Sophomore Gabriela Durand also returns after earning Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Honorable Mention accolades in singles play in 2009.
In 2008, Lettmann claimed CSAC First Team honors and DiCamillo notched second team distinction in singles competition. The duo also received second team laurels in doubles action.
“Alexis and Michelle have been with me for three years now, so they know the program,” Magee said. “They know what to expect. I am going to count on them this season.”
This season, Magee will be faced with the challenge of easing three underclassmen with his veteran trio. Rookies Katie Kennedy, Victoria Nastala and Adriana Scotto join the Cavaliers in 2010.
“I think the underclassmen are doing great,” Magee said. “I think they are enjoying it. We see a lot of effort and commitment. They are really trying hard, and as a coach, that’s what you really look for.”
The Blue & White will look to rebound from a 5-11 overall finish last season. Cabrini begins its CSAC regular season slate against Neumann University at home on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 12 p.m.
