RADNOR, Pa. –
The third-seeded Cabrini softball team is moving on in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament following a 2-0 victory against No. 6 seed Baptist Bible College on Wednesday afternoon at Cabrini Field. Senior P Liz Zimmer matched a season-high with six strikeouts en route to her third complete shutout of the season.

Zimmer surrendered six hits and walked zero, lowering her team-best ERA to 2.35 in the  victory. She is 10-1 this season against CSAC opponents.

Zimmer allowed just one hit over the final three innings. She retired the Baptist Bible side in order in the seventh inning, sending the Cavaliers to the semifinal double-elimination round of the CSAC Tournament on Friday.

Cabrini recorded five hits at the plate, including two each from senior 2B Cheri Johns and freshman CF Casey O’Connell. O’Connell scored the Cavaliers’ first run of the game in the first inning on an RBI single from Johns.

Sophomore 1B Angela Shookster provided the Blue & White with an insurance run in the sixth inning with her team-best seventh home run of the season.

Junior LF Katie Durrwachter went 2-for-3 at the dish for the Defenders. Baptist Bible did not have a runner advanced past second base.

BBC senior P Renee Korb also went the distance, striking out four and yielding five hits in the loss.

The victory is the first for the Cavaliers in the conference tournament since an 8-0 win against Neumann University on May 7, 2005. The Blue & White won five straight conference titles from 2000-04.

Cabrini (23-16) will play No. 2 seed Centenary College at top-seeded Neumann on Friday, May 8. Game time against the Cyclones is set for 10 a.m.
