AVONDALE, Pa. – The Cabrini golf team’s reign as two-time defending Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) champion has come to an end after Keystone College came from 10 strokes back to win its first conference title in program history Sunday afternoon at Inniscrone Golf Club. Senior Chris Lawler claimed the individual crown for the third straight season.
Lawler shot 9-over for the two-day tournament and carded a 5-over par round of 75 on Sunday, earning CSAC First Team honors. He topped second-place finisher Corey Snyder from Philadelphia Biblical University by five strokes.
Lawler hoisted the individual hardware at the 2008 championship hosted by Center Valley Country Club and at the 2009 championship at Broad Run Golfer’s Club. In three rounds at Inniscrone this season, he has shot a combined 12 strokes over par, including a first-place showing (+3) on April 15 at the Immaculata University.
Junior Mike Ryan claimed CSAC Second Team distinction, placing tied for fifth on the leaderboard. He shot 15-over on Sunday after shooting 8-over par on day one Saturday.
Sophomore Chris Sarvadi (+27) finished tied for 11th. Junior Ryan Muller (+30) and senior Brian Walsh, Jr. (+47), listed 13th and 27th, respectively.
Keystone (+127) held off the Cavaliers (+129) by two strokes. Neumann University (+155) placed third and Philadelphia Biblical (+169) ranked fourth.
The Giants’ line-up boasted four players in the top five. Junior Dane Gavin finished third overall, shooting +20 over both days. Senior Ryan Luce (+21) finished fourth. Senior Spencer Lunger (+23) and freshman Colin McAndrew (+23) each tied for fifth in the individual standings.
