AVONDALE, Pa. - The Cabrini golf team will compete in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship on Saturday and Sunday, April 24 and 25 at Inniscrone Golf Club. Tee time is set to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. The Cavaliers are the two-time defending CSAC champions, capturing the title in 2008 at Center Valley Country Club and in 2009 at Broad Run Golfer’s Club.
Leading the Cavaliers this season is senior Chris Lawler, who is the two-time defending individual champion at the conference championship. Lawler was named CabriniAthletics.com Student Athlete of the Week on April 12 and was consecutively tabbed the CSAC Golfer of the Week.
Lawler posted two first-place finishes this season, sharing the top spot in the Elizabethtown College Invitational at Hershey Country Club and in the Immaculata University Invitational at Inniscrone. Lawler listed tied for the lead in a field of 60 participants at the Elizabethtown Invite, finishing 1-over par. He placed tied for first out of 58 golfers at Immaculata, shooting a 3-over par round of 73.
Lawler will be complemented by junior Mike Ryan in the Cavaliers’ line-up for the CSAC Championship. Ryan finished second in the Lebanon Valley College Invitational at Lebanon Country Club. Senior Brian Walsh, Jr., sophomore Chris Sarvadi and junior Ryan Muller round-out the Blue & White rotation.
In the Cavalier’s first place finish at Immaculata, Muller carded a season-best 75 and tied for third, shooting five shots over par. Walsh, Jr., and Sarvadi tied for eighth, shooting 9-over par. Sarvadi was selected to CSAC Co-Golfer of the Week on April 5.
