READING, Pa – The most winningest season in Cabrini men’s basketball program history came to a close Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as No. 16 Randolph-Macon College topped the 20th-ranked Cavaliers, 95-66, at Albright College’s George C. Bollman Center.
Under second-year head coach Marcus Kahn, Cabrini wraps up the 2009-10 campaign with a program-record 25 overall victories. The Cavaliers made their 10th appearance all-time in the NCAA Tournament and first since the 2001-02 campaign.
Senior forward Kevin Misevicius led all scorers with 20 points. Misevicius knocked down 4-of-8 3-point attempts and corralled four rebounds. He reached the 20-point plateau for the 30th time in his Cabrini career.
Freshman point guard Cory Lemons tallied 18 points and junior forward Dom Farrello chipped in nine points.
Freshman center Goran Dulac led the Cavaliers’ efforts on the glass, grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Junior guard Lamar Fisher handed out three helpers.
The Randolph-Macon offense boasted six players in double figures and shot 57.9 percent from the floor for the game. The Yellow Jackets led by 24 points, 55-31, at the intermission behind a 65.6 overall percent shooting clip.
Sophomore guard Adam Desgain led the R-MC attack with a team-high 18 points. Junior forward Jordan Brown and junior guard Eric Pugh each contributed 14 points.
The Yellow buried 12-of-22 long-range attempts and recorded 26 assists on 33 field goals.
The Cavaliers led 3-0 after Misevicius canned a 3-point field goal following the opening tip. However, the Yellow Jackets, twice ranked No. 1 nationally earlier this season, used a 16-0 run to seize control of the game.
The loss marked the final game in the careers of Misevicius, and seniors Chris Blake and Corey White.
Misevicius finishes his career ninth on the Cabrini all-time scoring list, pouring in 1,123 points in just two seasons (58 games). He owns the program’s single-game records for points (45), field goals made (18) and free throws made (16).
Misevicius’ collegiate career concludes after having scored 2,095 points combined between his two seasons at Cabrini and two years at Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Blake and White played in 109 and 74 career games with the Blue & White, respectively, and significantly contributed to the team’s 47-11 performance during the last two seasons.
