Women's Lacrosse Looks For Winning Ways at University of Scranton Thursday

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini women’s lacrosse team resumes its 2010 regular season schedule on the road Thursday against Landmark Conference opponent the University of Scranton. Game time versus the Lady Royals is set for 4 p.m.

The Cavaliers opened their 2010 slate Tuesday at Centennial Conference foe Haverford College. The Fords scored eight second half goals en route to the victory.

Seniors Amanda Alexandrowicz and Erin Nollen powered the Cabrini offense, each totaling three points on three goals. Senior Kellie Levy and junior Jamie O’Hanlon also tallied one score.

Junior midfielder Kristen Vernon and sophomore attack Jacky McDermott each recorded one point, handing out one assist.

Senior goalkeeper Kate Schmid made her 34th career start for the Cavaliers between the pipes, posting seven saves in 60 minutes played.

Cabrini topped the Lady Royals at home, 8-7, during the 2009 season. Nolled led the Cavaliers’ offense with five points on four goals and one helper. Vernon paired two scores with two assists.

Scranton (1-2) welcomes the Blue & White to Fitzpatrick Field for its third straight home contest. The Lady Royals dropped their last outing in overtime, 16-11, versus Oneonta State.

Deanna Giorno leads the Scranton attack in the early going, recording nine points on seven goals and two assists. Caroline Pryor has tallied eight points on four scores and four assists.

Cassie Murphy has started two of the three games in the cage for the Lady Royals, posting a 1-1 record. Murphy owns a 13.86 goals-against average.
