BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The Cabrini men’s basketball team, under the leadership of second-year head coach Marcus Kahn, is ranked No. 24 in the latest D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll released today. It is the Cavaliers’ first national ranking since the final poll of the 2001-02 season.
Cabrini is 18-2 overall and boasts a 12-1 mark in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play. The Cavaliers own sole possession of first place in the CSAC standings, holding a two-game advantage in the loss column over second-place Immaculata University.
The Blue & White has received votes in each of the previous nine polls released this season by D3Hoops.com, earning a season-high 38 Jan. 26.
Guilford College (19-1) owns the poll’s No. 1 ranking this week. Franklin & Marshall College (17-3), also a member of the Middle Atlantic Region with Cabrini, lists No. 15 nationally.
The Cavaliers finished the 2001-02 season with a 19-12 overall record and ranked tied for No. 25 in the final D3Hoops.com poll. The Blue & White knocked off U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (85-73) and William Paterson University (47-43) in the 2002 NCAA Tournament before losing to Elizabethtown College (87-85) in the “Sweet 16”.
Cabrini begins the stretch run of its CSAC regular season slate Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Neumann University. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
