The Cabrini women’s basketball team has won five straight games and seven of its last eight overall. The Cavaliers are in third place in the CSAC South Division, trailing both Neumann University and Gwynedd-Mercy College by one game in the loss column.

Senior point guard Deana DiAmico poured in a season-high 27 points, including the 1,000th of her Cabrini career, in the Cavaliers’ last outing, a 70-50 win against non-conference opponent Rutgers – Camden. DiAmico became the program’s ninth 1,000-point scorer and first since the 2001-02 season (Erin Crawford).

DiAmico is averaging a career-best 12.7 points per game in 2009-10. She is a career 9.7 points per game scorer, shooting 40.7 percent from the floor overall and 81.8 percent from the foul line. DiAmico is also on pace to set a career high in rebounding.

Sophomore combo guard Laura Caron also reached double figures against the Scarlet Raptors, matching a career best with 11 points. Over the last four games, Caron is averaging 10.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists. She is shooting 48.5 percent from the floor.

Cabrini owns a 37-2 series advantage against Rosemont. The Cavaliers knocked off the Ravens, 67-39, at Nerney Field House just 19 days ago. Rosemont last defeated the Blue & White during the 2004-05 season (1/15/05, 60-49).

The Cavalier men’s basketball team rebounded from its first loss in 11 games with a resounding 79-50 win against CSAC opponent Baptist Bible College at home Feb. 1. Cabrini won 10 straight games from Dec. 18 to Jan. 27.

Three Cavaliers scored in double figures against the Defenders. Senior forward Kevin Misevicius, sophomore guard Greg Zabel and freshman guard A.J. Williams each tallied 11 points. The Cabrini offense boasted 11 players with at least two points.

Misevicius enters tonight’s game 46 points shy of his 1,000th career point at Cabrini and 74 points short of his 2000th career collegiate point. He is in just his second season with the Cavaliers following two years at Lehigh Carbon Community College where he scored a combined 972 points.

Misevicius is averaging a team-high 19.7 points per game in 2009-10. Freshman point guard Cory Lemons (14.2 ppg) and junior forward Dom Farrello (13.8) are also scoring in double figures. Cabrini owns sole possession of first place in the CSAC standings, holding a two-game advantage in the loss column over Keystone College, Immaculata University and Gwynedd-Mercy.

Tonight marks just the second meeting all-time for Cabrini and Rosemont on the men’s basketball hardwood. The Cavaliers earned a 74-63 victory in the series’ first meeting Jan. 16, 2010.
