Men, Women's Indoor Track & Field Compete in Big Apple

NEW YORK - The Cabrini men and women's track & field teams continued their 2009-10 indoor seasons Friday in the Big Apple, competing at the Metropolitan College Coaches Invitational at the NYC Armory.

The Cavaliers' abbreviated crew was led by the 21st-place performance from sophomore Quiana Volney in the 800m run. Volney clocked a time of 2:31.61, posting her second best time of the young season.

Junior Diane Gapinski made her indoor debut Friday, racing to a 35th-place finish in the 1-mile run. Gapinski, Cabrini's top female performer during the cross country season, recorded a time of 6:02.56.

On the men's side, sophomore Anthony Girolamo listed 26th in the 800m run, crossing the tape in a time of 2:06.06.

The Cabrini men and women's indoor track & field teams return to the Armory Friday, Jan. 15 for the NYC Gothum Cup.

Basketball (Men)

Senior forward Kevin Misevicius scored a team-high 20 points in the Cavaliers’ NCAA Tournament First Round loss against No. 16 Randolph-Macon College at Albright College’s George C. Bollman Center.

Misevicius shot 8-for-17 from the field overall and knocked down 4-of-8 3-point attempts. He also grabbed four rebounds and swiped three steals. Misevicius reached the 20-point pleateau for the 30th time in two seasons at Cabrini.

Misevicius concludes his Cavaliers’ career listing ninth all-time on the program’s scoring list with 1,123 points. He ranks sixth all-time in blocked shots (73) and seventh in steals (155).

Misevicius is the only player in program history to twice eclipse the 500-point barrier in a single season. He also owns the team’s second and third best single-season steals performances, swiping 84 in 2008-09 and 71 in 2009-10.
