LA PLUME, Pa. – Senior forward Kevin Misevicius scored a program-record 45 points as the Cabrini men’s basketball team remains unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play with a 93-85 victory on the road against Keystone College Monday night. The Cavaliers are 4-0 in conference for the first time since the 2004-05 season.
Misevicius showcased every bit of his offensive ability against the Giants, shooting 13-for-25 from the floor overall and a perfect 16-for-16 from the foul line. He also grabbed seven rebounds, swiped three steals and knocked down three 3-point field goals.
Misevicius’ performance eclipsed Cabrini’s previous single-game mark he established at Baptist Bible College last season. He poured in 41 points on a program-record 18 made field goals in an 81-64 win versus the Defenders.
Misevicius also extended his consecutive double figures scoring streak to 23 games against the Giants. He has reached double digits 37 times in 39 career games with the Cavaliers.
Freshman point guard Corey Lemons (13) and freshman combo guard A.J. Williams (10) also each reached double figures. Lemons nearly pulled off a triple-double, claiming nine rebounds and dropping eight assists.
Senior forward Chris Blake added nine points and eight boards in a season-high 27 minutes played off the bench.
The Cavaliers shot 51.4 percent from the floor in the first half, but led by just five points, 47-42, at the intermission. Keystone, one of four current unbeaten CSAC teams with Cabrini entering the game, did the Blue & White one better, shooting 54.8 from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
Misevicius totaled 22 points in the first half on 8-for-16 shooting. He was the only Cavalier in double figures, draining all three of his 3-point field goals before halftime.
Cabrini pushed its lead to a game-high nine points, 51-42, in the opening minutes of the second frame. The Giants rallied to tie the score three times in the closing half, including an 81-81 draw with 3:01 on the clock.
After Williams downed a jump-shot and sophomore Dom Farrello converted two at the charity stripe, the Cavaliers reasserted a four-point edge, 85-81, with 2:06 remaining. Cabrini led by six points, 91-85, after a free throw from Williams. Misevicius iced the game at the foul line, putting to rest Keystone’s five-game win streak.
Sophomore forward Kenneth Hardnett tallied 16 points and posted nine rebounds before fouling out for the Giants. Hardnett entered Monday’s game first in the CSAC in field goal percentage (.688), rebounding (11.6), defensive rebounding (8.0) and offensive rebounding (3.6).
Senior point guard Spencer Lunger and junior shooting guard Tercel Taylor each chipped in 15 points. Senior sharpshooter Ryan Luce added 14 points and sophomore forward Troy Robinson scored 10 points, each off the bench.
Both squads made the most of their offensive possessions. The Cavaliers shot a season-high 41 foul shots and only turned the ball over nine times. Keystone went to the charity stripe26 times and committed just eight giveaways.
Cabrini (8-1, 4-0) visits non-conference foe Lancaster Bible College Wednesday, Jan. 6 at 6 p.m.
