INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue has been crowned the NCAA statistical champion for save percentage for the 2009 season. Donahue helped the Cavaliers to its first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title and NCAA Tournament appearance with a nation’s-best .886 save percentage.
Donahue made 13 starts in 2009, posting an 8-5 overall record. She tallied 117 saves and four shutouts. Donahue received CSAC Honorable Mention accolades and was named the ECAC Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 27.
Donahue also led the CSAC in goals-against average (1.14). She listed second in saves per game (9.00) and third in saves. Donahue tallied 10-or-more saves in a single game four times, including a 26-save effort versus Rowan University Sept. 1.
Donahue has played in 54 games with the Blue & White, owning a 1.56 career goals-against average and .827 career save percentage. She has recorded a 31-18 career record and nine shutouts. Donahue is nearing the 400-save plateau (378).
Cabrini finished the 2009 season with an 11-11 overall record. The Cavaliers downed Neumann University, 2-1, in the CSAC final. Cabrini’s season came to a close with a 1-0 loss against Christopher Newport University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
