COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Cabrini men and women’s track & field teams returned to the oval Friday at the Ursinus College Collegeville Classic. Freshman Danica Giddens highlighted the Cavaliers performance with a second-place finish in the 55m dash.
Giddens clocked a time of 7.59 seconds. She owns two first-place finishes this season in the 55m dash at Ursinus, posting the top time at the Winter Invitational (7.36) and Quad Meet (7.37).
Rookie Nadia Hernandez turned in a sixth-place performance in the 55m hurdles (9.60) and a seventh-place finish in the high jump (1.37m).
Junior Diane Gapinski listed sixth in the 1-mile run with a season-best time of 5:54.91. Sophomore Quiana Volney placed 13th in the 800m run (2:43.36).
Hernandez and Volney teamed with rookie Shatievah Lewis and junior Diipali Figgles for a sixth-place performance in the 4x400m relay (4:43.03).
The Cabrini women's team ranked ninth out of 14 teams.
On the men’s side, freshman Tyler Rooke crossed the tape in a career-best 4:49.92 in the 1-mile run, finishing 12th. Rookie Jaiquann Beckham placed 16th in the 800m run (2:08.63).
The Cavalier men placed 13th.
The Cabrini men and women’s indoor track & field teams resume their regular season schedules Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the Ursinus Pentathlon.
