Harner Earns Academic All-Area Top Honor
Tim Harner, a first-team CSAC selection, is the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Golf Performer of the Year.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior Tim Harner has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Golf Performer of the Year. Harner is one of six student-athletes selected to the academic all-area team. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In 2009, Harner earned Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) First Team recognition and was named the league’s player of the week April 20. He twice finished first overall at multi-team matches and broke the 80-stroke pleateau eight times.

Harner has helped the Cavaliers to consecutive CSAC championships and two appearances at the NCAA Championship. He was a second-team all-conference selection and two-time player of the week in 2008.

Harner is named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team for the third time. He is a six-time Dean’s List honoree and one-time President’s List recipient. Harner was given the Girard-Goodwin Male Scholar-Athlete Award in 2008-09, presented to one male and one female senior student-athlete with the highest four-year cumulative GPA.

Harner finished his undergraduate studies in history and graduated May 17.

Harner is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team by Penn’s Michael Blodgett and Bryant Williams, Swarthmore’s David Lau, Temple’s Andrew Mason and Jonathan Radick from Holy Family.
