Men, Women's Track & Field Wraps Up 2009 Competition at Ursinus College Quad Meet

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. –
The Cabrini men and women’s track & field teams resumed their 2009-10 indoor schedules Friday at the Ursinus College Quad Meet. Freshman Danica Giddens finished first in the 55m dash for the second time in two meets to begin the season.

Giddens clocked a time of 7.37 seconds en route to the crown, just .01 seconds shy of her performance at last week’s Ursinus Winter Invitational. She also placed fifth in the 200m dash with a time of 27.24 seconds.

Sophomore Quiana Volney finished third in the 800m run, crossing the tape in a season-best time of 2:30.86 and besting her time from last week by more than six seconds. Freshman Nadia Hernandez (2:36.37) placed sixth in the 800m run.

Hernandez also competed in the high jump (1.40m) and long jump (4.51m), listing fourth and eighth, respectively. The women’s squad finished fifth in the team standings.

On the men’s side, sophomore Anthony Girolamo finished second overall in the 800m run with a time of 2:04.14. Girolamo (7.48) placed 15th in the 55m dash.

Freshman Abiu Santos finished eighth in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 25.09 seconds and eighth in the 400m dash with a tally of 55.02 seconds. The men’s team listed fifth overall in the team standings.

The Cabrini men and women’s track & field teams do not compete again until Friday, January 8 at the NYC Armory in the Metropolitan Coaches College Invitational.

Kevin Misevicius
Basketball (Men)

Senior forward Kevin Misevicius scored a team-high 20 points in the Cavaliers’ NCAA Tournament First Round loss against No. 16 Randolph-Macon College at Albright College’s George C. Bollman Center.

Misevicius shot 8-for-17 from the field overall and knocked down 4-of-8 3-point attempts. He also grabbed four rebounds and swiped three steals. Misevicius reached the 20-point pleateau for the 30th time in two seasons at Cabrini.

Misevicius concludes his Cavaliers’ career listing ninth all-time on the program’s scoring list with 1,123 points. He ranks sixth all-time in blocked shots (73) and seventh in steals (155).

Misevicius is the only player in program history to twice eclipse the 500-point barrier in a single season. He also owns the team’s second and third best single-season steals performances, swiping 84 in 2008-09 and 71 in 2009-10.
