IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team has qualified for the NCAA Tournament with a 3-0 win against Philadelphia Biblical University in the championship match of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament at Immaculata University. The win clinches the Cavaliers’ first CSAC title in program history.
Senior setter Lizzie Williams was named the match’s most valuable player, posting a match-best 29 assists. Williams also notched eight kills and five digs.
Freshman opposite Megan Ryan ignited the Cavaliers’ offense, recording a match and team-best 11 kills on 23 attempts with just one error. Junior middle Stephanie Recklau tallied nine kills on 18 tries with one miscue.
Senior outside hitter Traci Beltz complimented Ryan and Recklau at the net, totaling six kills.
Defensively, sophomore libero Courtney Abel posted a match-high 14 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Alexis Doss tallied 13 digs.
Under third-year head coach Eric Schaefer, the Cavaliers have recorded a program-record 24 wins in 2009.
The Cabrini volleyball team (24-6), one of four Cavalier teams to win the CSAC crown Saturday at the Fall Festival, will learn of its NCAA Tournament fate Sunday/Monday.
