Men’s Basketball (1-0)
Head coach Marcus Kahn claimed his 100th career victory as the Cabrini men’s basketball team opened the 2009-10 season Sunday with a 79-47 victory at Landmark Conference opponent Drew University. Senior forward Kevin Misevicius scored a game-high 25 points in the win. Junior forward Dom Farrello added 16 points. The Cavaliers led the Rangers by as much as 37 points in the second half. Cabrini resumes play Wednesday, November 18 at Lebanon Valley College (7:30 p.m.).

Women’s Basketball (0-1)
The Cabrini women’s basketball team began the 2009-10 season Sunday at non-conference opponent Widener University. The Pride earned a 65-35 win against the Cavaliers. Senior guard Alyssa Brady scored a team-best 10 points and grabbed six rebounds. Sophomore combo guard Laura Caron tallied a career-high nine points. The contest marked the first game for Cabrini first-year head coach Kate Pearson. Pearson takes over the Blue & White following five seasons as an assistant coach with the Cavaliers. The women’s basketball team plays at Albright College Wednesday, November 18 (7 p.m.)

Men/Women’s Cross Country
The Cabrini men and women’s cross country program competed at the NCAA Regional Saturday at Lehigh University. Sophomore Shatievah Lewis placed 55th in a field of 311 runners. Junior Diane Gapinski listed 84th overall in the individual standings. On the men’s side, freshman Tyler Rooke finished 131st out of 314 participants.

Field Hockey (11-11)
The Cabrini field hockey team played in its first NCAA Tournament match in program history Wednesday at No. 11 Christopher Newport University. The Captains advanced to the second round of the national tournament with a 1-0 win in treacherous weather conditions against the Cavaliers. Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue posted six saves for the Blue & White in the loss. Sophomore midfielder Maura Gordon recorded the Cavaliers’ lone shot of the contest.

Men’s Soccer (16-4-2)
The Cabrini men’s soccer team’s season came to a close Saturday night at No. 7 Christopher Newport University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cavaliers suffered a season-ending 4-0 loss versus the Captains. Senior goalkeeper Bryan Johnson notched five saves in the loss.

Women’s Soccer (14-6-1)
The Cabrini women’s soccer team returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2003 season Saturday at Johns Hopkins University. The Blue Jays ended the Cavaliers’ 12-match win streak and season with a 4-0 victory. Junior goalkeeper Gianna Porretta totaled seven stops in the loss.

Volleyball (24-7)
The Cabrini volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 2 Juniata College in its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. Senior setter Lizzie Williams notched 17 assists, three kills and three digs in the loss. Senior outside hitter Traci Beltz posted a team-best eight kills. Cabrini tallied a program-record 24 overall wins in 2009.
