The Cavaliers punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a dramatic 2-1 victory against Neumann University in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) championship match. Junior midfielder Shannon Mulhern's goal with 23 seconds remaining in the second half proved to the eventual game-winning score.

Junior back Allie Rodolico was named the game's most valuable player, leading a Cabrini defense that limited the Neumann offense to just two shots in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue notched five saves in the victory.

The Cavaliers begin its national postseason run having won five of its last six games, including a 1-0 victory against then-No. 12 The College of New Jersey October 22. Sophomore midfielder Maura Gordon leads the Blue & White offense with 36 points on 16 goals and four assists. Sophomore forward Lauren Alessi lists second on the team with 21 points on nine scores and three assists.

Donahue has made 12 starts this season, including 11 straight after returning from a knee injury suffered in the season-opening game versus Rowan University September 1. She owns a stingy 1.49 goals-against average and .888 save percentage. Donahue has recorded eight wins and four shutouts.

Christopher Newport (15-3) earned at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament as a "Pool B" team without a conference affiliation. The Captains have won six straight matches and 13-of-14 overall.

Taylor Harrell is Christopher Newport's top offensive player this season, posting 32 points on 14 goals and four assists. Katelyn Yandle has added 20 points on six goals and eight assists. The Captains' offense boasts five scorers with at least 13 points.

Emma Stout has made 16 starts in 2009, pairing a 1.23 goals-against average with .810 save percentage. She has been credited with 10 victories.

Cabrini and Christopher Newport share just one common opponent this season. Both the Cavaliers (4-0) and Captains (2-0) suffered losses versus Rowan.

The winner of Wednesday night's contest advances to second round play versus SUNY - Cortland at Salisbury University Saturday, November 14.
