Bernadette Laukaitis, longtime assistant coach at Holy Family University, has been named head women’s basketball coach at Cabrini College.

In announcing Laukaitis’ appointment, Cabrini’s Director of Athletics and Recreation Joe Giunta said, “We are very excited to have Bernadette join the Cabrini family. She has an unmatched energy level and her passionate drive to become a head coach was evident. Bernadette experienced a great deal of success at Holy Family as a student-athlete and coach, playing an integral role in building one of the top Division II programs in the country. We are looking forward to watching her sustain the winning tradition at Cabrini.”

Marcus Kahn, who spent the last six seasons as head men’s basketball coach at the University of Pittsburgh – Greensburg, has been named head men’s basketball coach at Cabrini College. Kahn inherits a Cavaliers program ranked sixth in all-time winning percentage (.658) among NCAA Division III programs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Marcus Kahn to Cabrini College as the head coach of our men’s basketball program,” said Cabrini director of athletics and recreation Joe Giunta. “Marcus’ emphasis on the complete student-athlete – in the classroom, on the court and in the community – is consistent with Cabrini’s mission. Additionally, he brings a great deal of head coaching success at the Division III level. Under Marcus’ guidance, we look forward to remaining one of the elite Division III programs in the country.”

The Cabrini men’s lacrosse team will participate in the 2nd Annual Nick Colleluori Classic presented by the HEADstrong Foundation on Saturday, October 11 at Ridley High School in Folsom, Pa. Colleluori, a 2004 graduate from Ridley and a former men’s lacrosse student-athlete at Hofstra University, passed away from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on November 28, 2006.

"It is truly an honor to be part of the Nick Colleluori Classic for the second year in a row,” said Cabrini head coach Steve Colfer. “We look forward to honoring Nick's legacy through a great day of lacrosse, as well as, raising awareness about blood cancers. It was a privilege to know Nick and now be part of the HEADstrong foundation."
